Character Counts!
Character Counts! is a character education program. It stresses the importance of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. This is a school-wide initiative that will not only be used in the classroom, but in athletics as well. Congratulations to senior Kylie O'Connell for being named Athlete of the Week. This past week Softball went 6-0, with Kylie being the winning pitcher in four of the games. For the week Kylie pitched 24 innings, gave up only 3 runs for a 0.9 era, gave up 15 hits, struck out 12 batters, and gave up only 1 walk. On Saturday, Kylie pitched a complete game shutout, over the seventh ranked team in the state, Downers Grove North. For the season Kylie has 17 wins as a pitcher. Way to go Kylie, keep up the great work.
Travis Trevizo Track & Field
Congratulations to senior Travis Trevizo for being named the Athlete of the Week. It was a terrific day for the team at the IHSA Sectional, but especially for Travis, who qualified for the IHSA State Finals in four events: the 4 x 800, the 800 meter, the 1600 meter, and the 4 x 400. No athlete in RB history has ever qualified in four events and what makes this even more astounding is that he is a distance runner. Even more impressive than his athletic feats, however, is the generosity and leadership Travis shows his teammates. Good luck!
