UNBELIEVEABLE: I have never been involved in such a Bazaar Softball game in my entire coaching career. We played Fenwick at home yesterday, 3/26/12. The game took 2 hours and 41 minutes to play and was called because of DARKNESS ending in a 17 to 17 Tie. To say we have pitching problems would be the understatement of the year. I used three pitchers who combined for a total of 16 Walks, 5 Hits and 7 K's with an endless amount of wild pitches. Fenwick scored 2 runs in the 1st inning on 3 walks, passed balls and no hits. RB responded in the 1st with a walk to Grace Cody and a run scoring double by Isabel Pena. Fenwick scored 1 more run in the 2nd on 2 walks and a wild pitch. Fenwick scored 1 more in the 4th on a walk and a triple. RB responded with 3 runs in the 4th as Cody hit a double, Lana Hermann followed with a triple and Pena hit a double. Fenwick scored 7 runs in the 5th on 6 walks and 1 hit. RB responded in the bottom of the 5th with 6 runs starting with a single by Sam Cook and Doubles by Pena, Frankie Ristich and Caitie Rusen. RB scored 2 more runs in the 6th with singles by Cody, Pena and Hermann. At the end of six innings the score was RBHS 15 - Fenwick 11. In the top of the 7th Fenwick scored 6 runs to take a 17 - 15 lead. In the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs, Sami Mitchell walked, Katelyn Duffy singled and Grace Cody came to the plate. Cody hit a line shot over 3rd base that drove in Mitchell and Duffy tying the game. Cody's ball went all the way to the Zoo fence for an easy home run and a victory but before reaching the fence the ball crossed the out of play line turning an easy home run into a ground rule double. The game ended in a 17 to 17 Tie and was called because of darkness. A Cat may have nine lives but I lived through 10 during this game. The Upshot is "My girls never quit."

2nd Game: RB lost 15 to 5 in five innings. Losing pitcher Sam Cook. 5 Hits, 9 Walks, 15 Runs (10 earned). Add 6 errors to the above line and it explains the fifteen runs. Team is in disarray with some players on Spring Break and Sporadic pitching. Some players are rising to the occasion while others are letting up on the field. When players return, and if team pulls together, we could possibly be a strong unit by the end of the season. That remains to be seen.
March 29, 2012: What a difference a day makes. RB defeated Nazareth 6-0 in a well played game by both sides. Winning Pitcher Katie O'Connell: Pitched 7 innings, 2 Hits, 3 Walks, 11 K's, 0 Runs. RB scored one run in the 4th inning as Katie O'Connell walked and Isabel Pena followed with an RBI Double. RB scored 5 more in the 6th as Isabel Pena led off with her 2nd Double followed by a Bunt single from Sami Mitchell. March 30, 201230 March 2012. The Frosh/Soph faced yet another JV Team in DeLaSalle and lost 7 to 5. I couldn't have been prouder of the girls then I was today. Hayden Claire was the losing pitcher but she pitched a fabulous game. 10 hits, 1 Walk, 3 K's, 7 runs (3 earned). DeLaSalle scored 2 in the 1st inning, 2 in the 3d and 1 in the 4th and 2 in th 6th to take a 7 to 0 lead. RB scored 1 in the bottom of the 6th as Lana Hermann led off with a Walk and stole 2nd and 3rd base. She scored on a single by Sami Mitchell making the score 7 to 1. In the bottom of the 7th Caitie Rusen led off with a single and the next two batters made out. With two outs Sam Cook singled and Lana Hermann drove in two with a triple. Marisa Jensen singled driving in Lana Hermann. Mitchell and Yessenia Mercado followed with singles and another run scored making the score 7 to 5 with two runners in scoring position. Caitie Rusen, who led off withsingle to start the inning came to bat again. She hit a Rocket line drive over third base which the 3rd basemen lept up and caught to end the game. The girls never gave up and it was a total team effort until the final out. If we can keep up this attitude play with the Heart we played with today we will have a Great season. However, we are missing many players tomorrow and will be going up a very tough Lyons Township squad in a doubleheader.
March 31, 2012, Doubleheader at LTHS. We lost the first game 13 to 1. Losing pitcher, Elyse Fleischman faced 7 batters walking 4 while giving up 1 hit and 5 runs. Nicole Swift finished the game giving up 6 hits, 2
walks, 8 runs (5 earned runs). Pitcher Hayden Claire was out for the day with a Fever so I inserted Swift who pitches 16" slow pitch style. Their were numerous errors behind her as our squad is depleted due to players missing on Spring Break. RB scored their first and only run in the 1st inning as Grace Cody and Sam Cook led off with singles. After two outs Caitie Rusen drove in Cody with a single. LT scored 7 in the First inning and 6 in the Third as the game ended in five innings. We lost the second game 13 to 2. Losing pitcher Sam Cook pitched 4 innings: 9 Hits, 9 Walks, 2 Hit Batters, 2 K's, and 13 runs (9 earned). Fleischman faced the last three batters, 0 hits, walks and runs. LT scored 2 in the first 10 in the third and 1 in the fourth for their 13 runs. RB scored 2 in the fourth as Natalie Gardiner singled and Nicloe Swift, Katelyn
Duffy, Elyse Fleischman and Grace Cody all Walked forcing in 2 runs. Game ended in 5 innings. At no time did any of the girls quit playing. We played 7 games in 6 days over the Spring Break with 4 to 6 of those games being against JV Teams while some of our girls being away on Spring Break. Our record doesn't reflect the fighting attitude our girls displayed during this time and I feel they fought to the final outs but in reality we were totally outmanned.
